Sarah's Dance Academy offers 2 levels of Troupe for the competitive dancer. Please read on and learn more about our 2 different Competitive Troupe Programs.

Competition Teams (ages 5 to 18) offer a wonderful opportunity which allows dancers a chance to perform on multiple stages and receive a variety of feedback from professional judges in order to help enhance their dancing. Being a member of our Competitive Troupe Team teaches dancers teamwork, responsibility, self-motivation, goal setting, and the encouragement to work at their highest level. Dancers will build relationships, friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Strive

Troupe Team

Sarah’s Dance Academy Strive Team provides more flexibility, for dancers ages 5 to 18. This Team is an ideal choice for dancers that are involved in other activities, or those who would like to perform more than just Recital.

These teams will learn 2 competitive Routines and will attend 1 community event and 3 local competitions and 1 out of town competition. Team placements are based upon skill level and age, following the mandatory audition process.

Elite

Troupe Team

Sarah’s Dance Academy Elite Team is designed for serious dancers, ages 8 to 18, whose main activity is dance. This accelerated team will meet for 2 hours in addition to the Strive Team rehearsal practices (4 hours total Troupe rehearsal).

Students will learn a total of 3-4 routines and will attend 1 community event, 3 local competitions, 2 out-of-town competitions, 1 convention (optional at an additional expense) and an out-of-town competition. Team placement is based upon skill level and age, following the mandatory audition process.

When are Evaluation/Placements (Auditions) & how do I sign up?

2024 - 2025 Pre-Auditions are on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27for New Dancers (Ages 5- 8 from 5:00 - 6:30 pm and Ages 9+ from 6:30 - 8:00 pm). Additions for New and Returning Dancers are Saturday, May 6 between 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Auditions take about 15 minutes. Please contact the studio for our 2024 - 2025 Competitive Troupe Packet and Registration. Have a friend that is interested in the Competitive Troupe Team, bring them along. You do not have to be a previous dancer at Sarah’s Dance Academy.

How often will we practice?

Competitive STRIVE Troupe Team will practice for 3 hours, 2 days per week, in Fall depending on the level of the troupe team. Competitive ELITE Troupe Team will practice 5 hours, 2 to 3 days per week in Fall. Students will learn 2 to 5 routines in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Pom and/or Tap. The style of dance will depend on each troupe team. We know Summer is a very busy time of year, only a few classes are required Summer Sampler Camp (July), Polka Day Parade (July), Intensive week (August) and Choreography week (August/September). Dancers that wish to take a Competitive Solo, Duet or Trio must also enroll into Ballet Intensive camp (July/August).

What are we looking for at Evaluation?

Dancers with positive attitudes, willingness to try new things, teamwork skills, motivation, and the want to grow and improve as dancers and as persons. Most importantly, you have to have the passion and love for dance!
