Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Performance Troupe Team?
Sarah’s Dance Academy Performance Troupe Team is a dance competition team that is developed for dancers who desire to perform more often and take their dance to the next level! Members of our Performance Troupe Team will perform at 1 to 2 local events, 1 to 4 competitions, and at the annual Sarah’s Dance Academy Dance Recital. Teams will be learning technique skills for all styles of dance. Performance routines will be taught in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical and/or Tap. Performance Troupe Team dancers will have the opportunity to attend some professional dance workshops to expand their technique and style. All dance students and non-dance students may join the Performance Troupe Team. You do not need to be a returning student of Sarah’s Dance Academy or be invited.
When are Evaluation/Placements (Auditions) & how do I sign up?
Evaluation/Placements will be held at Sarah’s Dance Academy Studio A on Friday, May 25 for ages 12 - 18 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm and Saturday, May 26 for ages 5 - 11 from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm. Please contact the Studio to register for Auditions. If you have a friend that is interested in the Performance Troupe Team, bring them along! You don’t have to be a previous dancer at Sarah’s Dance Academy!
How often will we practice?
Performance Troupe Team will practice two times per week for 2 hours each day. Students will learn 2 to 3 routines in Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Pom-Pon and/or Tap. The style of dance will depend on the team. Any extra practices, if needed, will be held on Saturday mornings.
What are we looking for at Evaluation?
Dancers with positive attitudes, willingness to try new things, teamwork skills, motivation, and the want to grow and improve as dancers and as persons! Most importantly, you have to have the passion and love for dance!
What will I gain from being on the Performance Troupe Team?
Being a member of our Performance Troupe Team teaches dancers teamwork, responsibility, self-motivation, and goal setting. The extra attention to technique and detail that goes along with competition preparation will advances the skills of the dancers much faster than the regular taking of dance classes. Dancers will build relationships and interacting skills as well as gain the encouragement to work at their highest level.
